Viper's Game

We took Claire to her first Viper's football game July 31st. I'm not sure if she enjoyed the game or not. She did have lots of fun with Maggie, Cole and Stone. And of course the popcorn was yummy too.

Hobby Lobby

Claire loves to go to Hobby Lobby. I think it's because there are stuffed animals (dogs to be specific) by the register that she loves to hug and of course purchase every once in a while.
We were picking up a few things for a baby shower and she picked up a two items on display in the floral section and knew right away what to do with them. She was so proud of herself and asked me to take her picture to send to Daddy and Grammie. Maybe she'll be a flower girl one day.

Singing

Claire has always loved music and dancing. I'm not sure where she gets her rhythm from because Carl and I don't have any. She had her microphone in hand and was belting out the lyrics to one of the songs she learned at Go-n-Grow and it made my heart melt....."I'm gonna take it in, live it out, build my life on what really counts......live my life unselfishly, God's love is big, strong and loud."
It was adorable!!!

Friends

We had a special treat last week....our dear friend Christy came to visit from Arizona. She lives there now so it was great to catch up with her over dinner. The five of us have been friends since college - that's been a long time ago. :) She's very happy in Arizona but we miss her here in Huntsville!!!

Golf Cart

During our last lunch together as a children's team at Cove (Melanie, Janie, Jennifer and I) at the club house, Claire wanted to take her traditional picture in the rocking chair. This is has become a tradition every time we eat there and then we send the picture to Grammie. After lunch on May 27th, Claire decided to drive one of the golf carts out front. I didn't realize she could reach the pedals until I saw the cart moving forward towards another row of parked carts. I got the mom of the year award by reaching in and hitting the gas pedal instead of the break to make the cart go faster and throw Claire to the floor of the cart and me to the ground. Melanie tried to stop the cart by throwing herself in front of it but it didn't work. The cart came to a screeching halt after it collided with the parked carts. Thank goodness Claire was ok - a little traumatized but no scratches or bruises. Melanie and I had a few scrapes and bruises and all of us have a memory we'll never forget to remember our last "official" lunch together. The event earned the team the praying hands award for May. :)

Claire was silent for a while after attempting to drive a golf cart but was back to her normal happy self when we got to the library. She has finally realized that we don't have to check out the same library books every time. But she does have to check out a few of her favorites - Curious George and Clifford. She's working hard on the library computer.

Eating Out

Whenever I ask Claire where she wants to eat out, her first response is always "noodles", which is Nothing But Noodles. It's our special place to go together since pasta isn't Daddy's favorite. Here is a picture from one of our lunches this summer.

Since it's been SO HOT this summer, picnics outside wouldn't be enjoyable so Claire and I had a Sonic picnic in the car yesterday.

Summer

WOW, the Duckett family has been so busy this summer!!! I can't believe July is almost over!!!

June was very busy as I directed Go-n-Grow at Cove Church. It was Claire's first time to participate. Here is a picture of her in the big t-shirt that she loves. (it's not good to take pictures with the sun in her eyes) She had lots of fun and definitely enjoyed the music and motions the best!!

Claire also went to see her first movies at the theater this summer too - Shrek Forever After and Toy Story 3. She enjoyed both of them. Since she is in love with dogs - we had to search every local store to find a slinky dog from Toy Story. Unfortunately we couldn't find any, but Daddy came to her rescue and found one on ebay. She asked everyday if slinky dog was on the front porch because that's where UPS and FedEx drops things off. She was very happy the day her slinky dog arrived!!!

Claire has also been continuing her gymnastics class at the Matrix this summer. She has enjoyed having Riley in class with her. She misses Mr. Kevin teaching her but loves Ms. Pennie too.

We had a great Father's Day at Bridge Street. A yummy lunch at PF Changs and a ride on the carousel. A trip to Bridge Street isn't complete without riding the carousel. :)

Claire also took a few swimming lessons with Daniel at Piedmont pool. Thanks to Melanie we got a few great videos as she cheered her on while I watched from afar. :) She still isn't comfortable with putting her face under the water but she is definitely more comfortable and independent in the pool.

I can't believe my precious baby girl is three years old and starting preschool in August. Everyone tells you time flies by when you have a child but you can't understand until you have a child of your own. God has blessed us with a loving, sweet and energetic little girl!!!

Our family is also on a new journey as we help start 100X Church in Huntsville, Alabama. Cove Church has been our church home for almost ten years. We have been blessed to meet and serve with wonderful people along the way!!! I was the 4th & 5th grade coordinator the past three years and served with three amazing women of God!!! I will definitely miss seeing the kids' sweet smiles every Sunday!!! They are a great group of kids!!! We know God will continue to do amazing things at Cove!!! It'll always have a special place in our heart!!! We are very excited to see what God has planned for 100X Church!!!

Starting Blog

I've always wanted to start a blog to record what is going on with our family. Hopefully I can update it easily and share it with others. Claire is growing up so fast and I need to keep track of all our precious memories! I'm currently taking an online course through Auburn and I had to create a blog for my class so here goes.....enjoy! :)
